We
have all heard of Monty Roberrts, the man who became famous through his
techniques of communicating and working with horses. His non-violent philosophy,
based on kindness, trust, respect and freedom of choice, has seen him
tour the world to demonstrate and share his ideas that there is
a hugely rewarding and highly effective training alternative to the traditional
"You do what I tell you or I'll hurt you" approach.
Over more recent years, the business world has also begun to appreciate the benefits of similar forms of leadership, realising that by creating an environment that encourages employees to be involved and feel inspired, holds much greater power and productivity than the long standing practises of "direct and control".
Monty Roberts' demonstrations have had huge emotional impacts on people worldwide, even those not involved with horses, who have connected with his message and felt that here was a man proving the simple facts that empathy and understanding, of both animals and humans, always provides a positive response.
After hundreds of requests (including from the Queen!), this book came about, and Monty explains how to apply all he has learnt from listening to horses to human relationships.
A very interesting read for anyone, whether a horse lover, corporate manager or for those just wishing to understand more about positively developing human relationships.
